Christ our Homecoming

Verse

Verse 1:
From far and wide assembled here
A special time to end the year
The family come to celebrate
A peaceful time, a moment shared
Whatever our traditions say
We're coming home for more today
The love of family is a start
But we want joy from Jesus in our hearts
Chorus:
With feasting and a rest from toil
With laughter and belonging's joy
With all our hopes and dreams declaring
"Christmas - Christ our homecoming"
Verse 2:
A family trek across the land
A donkey ride to Bethlehem
No special place to rest their heads
Uncertainty and hope a-head
A baby born to seal the season
Expanded tribe of worshipping people
Shepherds, mages, all and sundry
Are all invited - join the fami-ly
Verse 3:
So as we join festivities
Let's raise a glass to family
Enjoying fellowship and fun
Part of God's communi-on
If we gather rich or poor
Our inheritance is so much more
With comfort here within His church
Grace and freedom not by works
Bridge:
We'll come and sing "O Holy night"
With thanks we'll lift your name up high
Our gathered voices offering
Honour to the coming King
A family gathering singing praise
The generations in your name
Jesus - your church looks heavenwards to sing
"It'sChristmas - Christ our homecoming!"
Chorus - Last time:
With feasting and a rest from toil
With laughter and belonging's joy
With all our hopes and dreams made real at Christmas
With feasting and a rest from toil
With laughter and belonging's joy
With all our hopes and dreams declaring
"Christmas - Christ our homecoming"
"Christmas - Christ our homecoming"
"Christmas - Christ our homecoming"
