This song is a setting of Isaiah 40:31: "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." This song was written with two melodies that combine to create harmonies in the final verse.

I've always loved the carol 'O Come, O Come Emmanuel' but there was a lot in there that I never really understood until adulthood. After following the United Adoration creative Advent guide I was inspired to rewrite it keeping in mind young people, teenagers and those who might be coming to Christmas services as guests. I've aimed to keep the message, story and vibe of the song whilst making it a little easier for people who aren't familiar with the language and history to understand and connect with God through it, touch on things relevant to today and leave enough room for questions to arise. I'm very thankful to the Resound Worship 12 Song Challenge community who helped me shape and finish this song.

Here I Am

'Mary chose what is better,' Jesus said. She sat at His feet and listened. I want to be like that. But I can’t. I tried and tried, but just don't seem to be able to sit down and stay there. I wrestle with that. But I found out that I might not be able to sit down and listen the way Mary did, but I can at least give what I have, even if it is only a minute of focussed attention. And I can ask God to help me to listen longer and better.
