God Is For Us (Psalm 124)

Verse 1

If God had not been on our side
Our strong and sure defender
We would not have come out alive
From floods of rage and anger
Our foes conspire to do us harm
To drown us in the fray
And but for God’s sustaining arm
We would be swept away

God is for us, strong to defend us
He our Maker, steadfast and sure
Pledged with his own blood to befriend us
By his help we will stand secure

God did not leave us on our own
As wolves converged around us
Nor yet abandoned us alone
When trapped by foes and helpless
In troubles God is on our side
He frees us from the snare
Released, escaping as birds ride
The wind into the air
